Eastern Samar's Padul-ong Festival inspires charity exhibit
A painting and photo exhibit titled, "Ay Borongan!", featuring the highlights of the Padul-ong Festival of Borongan City, Eastern Samar formally opened Tuesday at the art gallery of the Globe Tower in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
The exhibit has two goals: First, to help boost tourism in Borongan by promoting the festival which is held every September 7 in honor of its patroness, Our Lady of Nativity and second, to help the Yolanda victims in Eastern Samar by donating part of the exhibit's proceeds to the Commission on Social Action of the Diocese of Borongan.
The diocese has been actively involved in the rehabilitation and rebuilding of tyhooon-ravaged communities in the southern part of the province.

The artist headlining the exhibit is Carrie Gonzales, a lawyer by profession. She is presenting 14 paintings inspired from the Padul-ong photographs by her nephew, RJ Lorico who is also part of the exhibit.
"Ay, Borongan!" is Gonzales' second exhibit for the year to date. Her partner in this exhibit is the Borongan Digital Photographers Forum.
The group, composed of amateurs and professionals hailing from Borongan City, are presenting 18 photographs.
