National Artist Eduardo Castrillo.
“Extrinsic Form” is a special piece by nationalist sculptor Eduardo Castrillo which is part of the CASTRILLO HANDS ON! CARE TO BID. BID TO CARE: A Special Auction for the Galing Mo Kid! program of Hands On Manila (HOM). HOM is a non-profit, non-government organization that aims to provide flexible opportunities for community service in Metro Manila as it champions the spirit of volunteerism among private corporations and individuals.

On September 26, HOM will hold a fund-raising event through a partnership with the EC-Art Management where select art sculptural pieces of Castrillo will be auctioned in a special invitational event. Castrillo has also created a limited edition series of abstract movables to support the continuous fund-raising efforts for the benefit of Hands On Schools - Galing Mo Kid! (HOS-GMK) program of Hands On Manila.

HOS-GMK is a program that mentors high-achieving public school students that aims to (1) Enhance the learning potential of the high-achiever students in four subject areas: Science, Math, English and Civics; (2) Enhance their leadership skills, creativity, and cognitive skills; and (3) Develop values such as love for the country, honesty, and integrity.

30 high-achiever students are selected every year from the three pilot schools: Nueve de Febrero Elementary School, Plainview Elementary School in Mandaluyong, and PEMBO Elementary School in Makati. Volunteers will mentor a 2-hour mentoring session every Saturday using teaching materials. Volunteers are to commit to a minimum of 5 sessions.
Grade 4 GMK students will have 20 sessions, while the Grade 5 GMK students will have 15 sessions, and 12 sessions for the Grade 6 students. The teaching materials have an over-arching theme of Heroism for the Grade 4 students, Entrepreneurship for the Grade 5 students, and Leadership and Community Service for the Grade 6 students.

"Blossoming Forth" by Eduardo Castrillo, one of the pieces to be auctioned off.
As a young juvenile delinquent child and working student, Castrillo knows the importance of giving the youth a chance for education, and was happy to collaborate for this worthy project.
