DLSU Research Congress promotes exchange of new ideas
2010 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Professor Richard Heck
Renowned professors and multi-awarded field experts led by 2010 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Richard Heck came together to provide an opportunity for researchers, educators, and students to share developments in different subject matters at the DLSU 2013 Research Congress.
The three-day event held from March 7 to 9 at the DLSU campus featured a plenary talk, challenge grant talks, and graduate colloquia. The different University Research Centers also showcased their research outputs in an exhibit.
Heck, also a DLSU honorary doctorate and adjunct professor of the Chemistry Department, graced the opening of the congress and answered questions from the audience.
The congress included talks by the University Fellows, the elite group of distinguished professors in DLSU. The topics ranged from marine biology and energy demands to poetry and economics. Speakers included noted ecologist Dr. Wilfredo Licuanan, NAST awardee and leading researcher in process systems engineering Dr. Raymond Tan, poet Dr. Marjorie Evasco, and economist Dr. Tereso Tullao, Jr.

On March 7, the Annual Faculty Research Recognition was also held to recognize DLSU faculty members who have completed their research projects, published in peer-reviewed journals, and received national and international awards.
Other keynote speakers included Department of Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla, and DOST- Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) Executive Director Dr. Rowena Guevara. Press release and photos from De La Salle University
