Malayan High School of Science to hold seminar on child empowerment

Advocating the creation and preservation of an environment suitable for the holistic development of children, Malayan High School of Science (MHSS) will hold its third parenting seminar entitled “Building Healthy Family Relationships: Key to Child’s Individuality Development and Personal Success.”

As part of MHSS’s Safe School Program, the seminar aims to help parents build strong and healthy relationships among family members to encourage their children’s optimum growth and development particularly in their teenage years.

“The teenage years are a very crucial part of a child’s development, as it is in this phase that he experiences abrupt physical and emotional changes, which he might not be capable of dealing with alone. Also, it is in adolescence that a child becomes more aware of his surroundings and wants to explore and experience new things. Without proper guidance especially from parents, adolescent kids might endanger themselves, have a negative outlook, or at the very least set wrong priorities in life,” explained principal Dr. Efren B. Mateo.

The seminar will feature a talk by teacher and psychologist Maria Andrea S. Tirazona, whose clinical practice centers on psychological assessments of individuals of all ages.

“My talk will help parents understand their children better, especially their teenagers. Issues that arise due to adolescent concerns, changes in attitude, and the role of technology will also be explored. Through this, parent–child relationships can be strengthened and children empowered,” Tirazona said.

The event will also be graced by renowned TV personality and radio anchor Winnie Cordero to share her insights and some parenting tips to attendees.

MHSS’s “Building Healthy Family Relationships: Key to Child’s Individuality Development and Personal Success” seminar will be held on March 2, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., in the school’s Audio-Visual Room. It is open to public. For inquiries and slot reservations, please call (02) 5628516 or (0918)9906477, or email admissions@malayanscience.edu.ph.
