National Book Store brings ‘Shatter Me’ author Tahereh Mafi to Manila


Tahereh Mafi, author of the young adult series Shatter Me, comes to Manila for a book signing event on March 2, 4 p.m., at the new flagship of National Book Store in Glorietta 1.
 
Shatter Me is described as The Hunger Games meets X-men and praised by Publishers Weekly as “a gripping read from an author who’s not afraid to take risks.” Ostracized or incarcerated her whole life, seventeen-year-old Juliette is freed on the condition that she use her horrific abilities in support of The Reestablishment, a post-apocalyptic dictatorship, but Adam, the only person ever to show her affection, offers hope of a better future.
 
Shatter Me has received positive reviews from Booklist, Kirkus Reviews and Publishers Weekly among others, and has been optioned for film by 20th Century Fox. It appeared in National Book Store’s bestsellers list in 2011.
 
The sequel Unravel Me came out this February. The story begins with Juliette’s successful escape from The Reestablishment. Now that she’s free from their plans to use her as a weapon, she has to make life-changing choices that may involve Adam’s life.
 
The 24-year old author, Tahereh Mafi, was born in a small city in Connecticut and currently resides in Orange County, California.
