Ateneo holds first ever Ignatian Festival on July 21


To celebrate the anniversary of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the Ateneo de Manila University in cooperation with the Jesuit Communications Foundation Inc. holds its first ever Ignatian festival on July 21, from 9 am to 9 pm.
 
The festival titled, Atenista Ako, Kadiwa ni Ignacio will be a whole-day event with plenary talks and panel discussions on different Ignatian themes including discernment, ethics, prayer, leadership, social involvement, science and art.   
 
Ateneo President Fr. Jett Villarin SJ will open the festival with his talk on the Identity and Mission of the Atenean. Other talks include: Prayer and Our Busy Lives- The Ignatian way of contemplation and action and The Jesuit Legacy and Role in the Church.
 
Towards the afternoon, distinguished alumni in different fields will be sharing their experiences in simultaneous talks around the campus. Among them are: Supreme Court Associate Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, Mr. Ernesto Tanmantiong of the Jollibee Foods Corporation, Mr. Edward Go, Chairman of the Board of the Ateneo de Manila University Board of Trustees and Apo Hiking Society member Jim Paredes.    
 
Ateneo alumnus Archbishop of Manila, Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle, DD STD, will lead the Eucharistic celebration to commemorate the event.
 
The festival’s culminating event will be an Ignatian concert of homegrown talents including the Bukas Palad Music Ministry, Hangad, Ateneo Chamber Singers and many more. The concert will be directed by Fr. Manoling Francisco, SJ.
 
Ateneo alumni are enjoined to take part in this activity and are encouraged to bring their family, friends, batch mates and colleagues. Activities are free of charge, but seating capacity is limited.
