Jose Legaspi's 'Drawing' at the UP Vargas Museum

The UP Vargas Museum in cooperation with the Drawing Room Gallery opens the exhibition Drawing by Jose Legaspi on 8 May 2012, Tuesday, 4pm, at the 3F South Wing of the Vargas.

Jose Legaspi presents a suite of small drawings and two large portraits in his continuing reflection on how it is to intuit the structure of feeling for the self as revealed in a particular state or stance and amid the hectic details of visions of the world.
Legaspi (b. 1959) was in the graduate program of the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts from 1985 to1986. His training, however, was in the sciences, earning degrees in biology and zoology from the University of Santo Tomas.

Legaspi has exhibited extensively both locally and abroad in museums and galleries such as Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, Japan (2009), Espai d'Art Contemporani de Castelló, Spain (2000), Cultural Center of the Philippines (1992), Art Lab, Manila (1990); and represented in such platforms as Scope Basel (2010), Istanbul Biennale (2003), The Japan Foundation Forum (2002), Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, Brisbane, Australia (2002), to name a few.

Drawing will run until 16 June 2012.
