Ricky Lee talks on 'Amapola' at FWGP's OpenBook event

For its first salvo for the year, the Freelance Writers’ Guild of the Philippines (FWGP) presents hitherto premiere screenwriter-turned-commercially successful novelist Ricky Lee.   Lee will sit down with the audience of FWGP’s OpenBook to talk about his second novel Si Amapola sa 65 na Kabanata, writing, inspiration, creativity and other related topics. The event will be held at 6 p.m. on Jan. 20 at Chef’s Bistro at 94 Scout Gandia near corner Tomas Morato, Quezon City.  It is a coming-home of sorts for Amapola as the novel is set entirely on Tomas Morato.

 

OpenBook is a monthly event of FWGP that has previously featured highly-acclaimed authors Samantha Sotto (Before Ever After), Bebang Siy (It’s a Mens World), and Tweet Sering (Astigirl). Actors Opaline Santos and Ian Lomongo will read an excerpt from the novel. Lalangin -- a group of young musicians led by Joey Nicolas -- will provide musical entertainment. The event will be hosted by Bebang Siy. Entrance fee is at P200, inclusive of  one drink. Proceeds from this event will fund future projects of FWGP, including upcoming OpenBook sessions and ongoing efforts to help Sendong victims in Mindanao. Also available during the event are FWGP shirts; books by Ricky Lee and other merchandise from his previously-released books.
