Humingi ng paumanhin at binawi ng Department on Interior and Local Government (DILG) ang "show cause order" na ipinadala kay Manila Mayor Isko Moreno para pagpaliwanagin sa kabiguan umano ng lokal na pamahalaan na maabot ang pamantahan ng gobyerno sa Anti-Drug Abuse Council noong 2018, isang taon bago pa siya mahalal na alkalde.

Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año, na ang naturang show cause order ay para sa nagdaang liderato ng Maynila.

"The show cause order has been recalled and Mayor Isko does not have to answer it," anang kalihim.

Naupong alkalde ng Maynila si Moreno noong 2019, kapalit ni dating mayor Joseph Estrada.

Sa show cause order na may petsang Hulyo 9, nakasaad na "Based on our assessment and verification in the 2018 Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Audit, you have failed to comply with the policy and program mandated to your office, specifically in meeting the standards and complying with the measures set forth by the National Drug Abuse Council Audit."

Lumitaw na ang naturang show cause order ay nanggaling sa tanggapan ni DILG Undersecretary for External and Legislative Affairs Ricojudge Janvier Echiverri.

Sa isang memorandum nitong Agosto 6, sinabi ni Echiverri na ang show cause order para kay Moreno ay “inadvertent re-issuance.”

"By virtue of this error and the guidance of policies and procedures of the Department, we are hereby withdrawing the document in issue," saad ni Echiverri.

Sinabi naman ni DILG spokesperson at Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya,  na “honest mistake” at walang bahid-pulitika ang pangyayari.

“Since there is a mistake that was done, as spokesperson of the DILG, we express our apologies to the mayor of Manila for this erroneous show-cause order,” sabi ng opisyal sa panayam ng CNN Philippines.

“I would like to assure the public that there is no politics behind this,” patuloy niya.

Kabilang si Moreno sa mga napapasama sa mga survey na posibleng tumakbong pangulo sa Eleksyon 2022.

Sa Facebook post nitong Huwebes, sinabi ni Moreno: "Wow Galing ha! Sunod sunod na! #AlamNaThis."

Pero sa panayam ng Super Radyo dzBB nitong Biyernes, sinabi ni Moreno na wala siyang balak na gumawa ng legal na hakbang sa nangyari.

Gayunman, sinabi ng alkalde na hindi iyon ang unang pagkakataon na nakatanggap siya ng show cause order mula kay Echaverri.

"Sanay naman na siguro tayo sa ganyan, ipinapagsa-Diyos ko na lang sila, kaya lamang parang dalawang beses na o nagkataon ulit?," anang alkalde.

"Pag-upo ko, a few months thereafter (2019), it's the same letter, same show cause order... 'yan ding tao na 'yan, nagpadala ng sulat na 'yan," patuloy ni Moreno.-- FRJ, GMA News
