Sumuko sa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ang negosyanteng si Cedric Lee ilang oras matapos maglabas ng hatol ang korte sa Taguig na guilty siya, pati si Deniece Cornejo, at dalawang iba pa, sa kasong serious illegal detention.

Sa ulat ni Olan Bola sa Super Radyo dzBB, kusang sumuko si Lee sa mga awtoridad.

Ayon kay NBI director Atty. Medardo Dilemos, sinundo ng kaniyang mga tauhan si Lee sa Mandaluyong matapos na magpadala siya ng mensahe sa gagawing pagsuko.

Isinailalim si Lee sa mugshot at fingerprinting matapos na sumuko. Ibabalik ang kaniyang warrant of arrest sa Taguig Regional Trial Court, at isusunod kung saan siya dadalhin.

Una rito, lumabas sa paglilitis ng korte, na guilty sina Lee, Cornejo, Ferdinand Guerrero, at Simeon Razguilty sa kasong illegal detaintion na ginawa sa TV host at aktor na si Vhong Navarro noong 2014.

Sa 94-pahinang desisyon, hinatulan ng Taguig RTC-Branch 153 na guilty beyond reasonable doubt sa serious illegal detention for ransom sa ilalim ng Article 267 ng Revised Penal Code ang mga akusado.

Hinatulan sila ng parusang reclusion perpetua o pagkakakulong ng hanggang 40 taon.

"It is all too apparent that the accused planned and premeditated to restrain Vhong Navarro to extort money from him. Proof of their agreement is inferred from their conduct before, during, and after the commission of the crime," ayon sa korte.

Una rito, hinikayat ng Philippine National Police (PNP) sina Lee at iba pang akusado na sumuko matapos lumabas ang hatol ng korte.

“Mag-voluntary surrender na lang po sila doon sa pinakamalapit na istasyon sa kanila o they can get through their lawyers, so that they could arrange po yung possible voluntary surrender po nila,” sabi ni PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo.

“Nonetheless po, yung ating mga akusado naman po ay they have the right to exercise and exhaust all lagal remedies available to them to file a motion for reconsideration or even appeal this case po to the proper forum,” dagdag ng opisyal.-- FRJ, GMA Integrated News
