Inihayag ni President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na siya na muna ang mamumuno sa Department of Agriculture (DA) sa harap na rin ng ng mga problema sa sektor ng agrikultura.
"As to agriculture, I think the problem is severe enough that I have decided to take on the portfolio of Secretary of Agriculture at least for now," sabi ni Marcos nitong Lunes.
Magsisimula ang termino ni Marcos bilang pangulo sa June 30, kasabay naman ng pagtatapos ng termino ni President Rodrigo Duterte.

"I thought it is important that the president take that portfolio so that not only to make it clear to everyone what a high priority we put on the agri sector but also as a practical matter so that things move quickly because the events of the global economy are moving very quickly," ayon pa kay Marcos.
Nais umano ng kaniyang administrasyon na pagtuunan ng pansin at makapaghanda sa posibleng magtaas ng presyo ng mga pagkain dulot ng "outside forces" na nakaapekto sa food supply.
Una rito, nagbabala si outgoing Agriculture Secretary William Dar noong Mayo tungkol sa food crisis sanhi ng epekto sa ekonomiya ng coronavirus pandemic, mataas na presyo ng mga produktong petrolyo at sigalot ng Russia at Ukraine.— FRJ, GMA News
