Naiproklama na nitong Miyerkules ng Kongreso na nagsilbing National Board of Canvassers si Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. bilang ika-17 pangulo ng Pilipinas, matapos manalo sa presidential race sa Eleksyon 2022 .
Kasabay nito, iprinoklama rin ng Kongreso ang running mate ni Marcos na si Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, bilang susunod na bise presidente.
Nakakuha si Marcos ng kabuuang boto na 31,629,783 sa official tally ng presidential race. Umabot naman sa 32,208,417 ang botong nakuha ni Duterte sa VP race.
Mula noong EDSA 1986 People Power Revolution, sina Marcos at Duterte ang ikalawang magka-tandem sa halalan ang nanalo sa eleksiyon. Una sina dating Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at running mate niya na si Noli De Castro, noong 2004 national elections.
"The most valuable thing you may receive from a fellow citizen is their vote," ani Marcos. “And that is why, to have received over 31 million votes from our countrymen is as valuable expression of trust as can be had by anyone in public life. And so for that I thank our people."
Pangako ng president-elect: "Beyond that, I promise you that we may not be perfect but we will always strive to perfection. Thank you very much.”
Hiniling din niya na ipagdasal siya na magampanan niya nang mabuti ang kaniyang tungkulin.
“But also embedded in that vote are the trust and the confidence that they give to you to take them to that aspirational future,” ani Marcos.
“So I ask you all, pray for me, wish me well. I want to do well because when a president does well, the country does well. And I want to do well for this country,” dagdag niya.
Dahil sa 58% na nakuhang boto ni Marcos, siya ang kauna-unahang presidente na nahalal na may "majority of votes" matapos ang EDSA Revolution.
Samantalang 61% naman ang botong nakuha ni Duterte.
Kasama ni Marcos sa proklamasyon sa Kongreso ang kaniyang asawa na si Attorney Liza Araneta-Marcos, anak na si Simon, at ina na si dating First Lady Imelda Marcos.
Nandoon din ang mga kapatid niyang sina Senador Imee Marcos at Irene.
Samantala, kasama naman ni Duterte na dumating sa Batasang Pambansa si dating Pangulong Arroyo at Davao Occidental Governor Claude Bautista.
Hindi kasama ng VP elect ang kaniyang ama na si outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte.—FRJ, GMA News
