Posibleng sa grupo ng minorya sa Senado at hindi sa mayorya umanib si Senador Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III sa 19th Congress.
Sa panayam sa telebisyon nitong Lunes, sinabi ni Pimentel na nagsimula nang bumuo ng alyansa ang mga senador na nais maging Senate President.
"Marami nang gumagalaw, except that I'm not so interested with all of these alliances that they are building because I am open to not belonging to the majority," pahayag ni Pimentel, dating Senate president, sa panayam ng CNN Philippines.
Paliwanag ni Pimentel, hindi naman mangangahulugan na oposisyon sa pangulo ang mga nasa minorya.
Iginiit din niya na hindi nadidiktahan ng pangulo ang Senado.
"We do not wait for dictation from the president [about] who he wants to be the leader of the Senate. That is not part of the thinking, attitude and the culture of the Senate. We limit ourselves to the Senate," ani Pimentel.
Tumanggi siyang magkomento kung sino ang susuportahan niyang Senate President na sinasabing inaasinta nina Senador Cynthia Villar at Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri.
"I cannot comment kasi sabi ko nga I did not involve myself or I will not involve myself in these movements to form the Senate majority because if I get left behind, sasabihin, 'You will be left behind,' then I will be with the Senate minority. Okay lang sa akin," paliwanag niya.
Nakatakdang mag-adjourn sine die ang Kongreso sa June 3. Magbubukas naman ang 19th Congress sa July 25.
Si Koko ay anak ng namayapang dating senador na si Nene Pimentel, na kabilang sa mga lumaban sa diktaduryang rehimen noon ni dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Sr.—FRJ, GMA News
