Pumanaw ang Filipino boxer at 1988 Seoul Olympics bronze medalist na si Leopoldo Serantes. Siya ay 59-taong-gulang.
Nakipaglaban si Serantes sa kaniyang sakit na chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Isa si Serantes sa walong Pinoy boxer na nagbigay ng medalya sa Pilipinas mula sa Olympics.

Lumaban si Serantes sa light flyweight division at nakapag-uwi ng bronze medal sa Olympics, at gold medal naman sa 1985 at 1987 editions ng Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
Kabilang din siya sa Philippine Sports Hall of Famer.
Noong Agosto, nakatanggap si Serantes ng P100,000 monthly allowance mula sa sports patron at Chooks-to-Go president Ronald Mascariñas para sa gastusin sa ospital. — FRJ, GMA News
