Si Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar ang napiling magiging bagong hepe ng Philippine National Police, ayon kay Interior Secretary Eduardo Año.
Papalitan ni Eleazar sa pinakamataas na puwesto sa pulisya si Police General Debold Sinas, na nakatakdang magretiro sa Mayo 8.
Sa hiwalay na pahayag nitong Miyerkules, sinabi ni presidential spokesman Harry Roque na pinirmahan na ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang pagtatalaga kay Eleazar bilang bagong PNP chief.
"General Eleazar’s track record of professionalism, dedication and integrity speaks for itself," ani Roque.
"We are therefore confident that he will continue the reform initiatives of his predecessors and lead the police organization to greater heights," dagdag niya.
Sinabi ni Eleazar sa kaniyang pahayag na tinatanggap niya ang mga hamon sa bago nitong posisyon.
Nagpasalamat din siya kina Pangulong Duterte at Sec. Año sa ibinigay na tiwala sa kaniya.
"To be appointed as the Chief PNP is a rare opportunity, but come with the challenges and good leadership and meeting the high expectations of the Filipino people. I accept these challenges," ayon kay Eleazar.—FRJ, GMA News
