What Eya Laure, Angel Canino look forward to in Alas Pilipinas callup

Eya Laure and Angel Canino were both called up by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) to be part of the Alas Pilipinas women's team which will compete in the upcoming AVC Challenge Cup and both players said they are excited with the opportunity given to them.

Laure said she is excited to reunite with her University of Santo Tomas senior Sisi Rondina and with other veterans such as Jia De Guzman.

"This time mas marami din akong nilo-look forward na bago kasi for how many years hindi kami nagkasama ni Ate Sisi and kay Ate Jia, siyempre iba 'yung time talaga ng SEA (Southeast Asian) Games 2019 so looking forward ako sa teammates ko ngayon," Chery Tiggo's Laure told reporters on Wednesday during the launch of the Alas Pilipinas moniker.

"May additions din, sina Angel [Canino] kasama din so excited ako sa bagong learnings and experience."

(This time, I am looking forward to more since it's been years since Ate Sisi and I were together and with Ate Jia, of course 2019 SEA Games was different as well so I'm looking forward to being with my teammates now. There are also additions like Angel so I'm excited for new learnings and experience.)

Meanwhile, Canino said this will be an opportunity to see what they can still improve in terms of their skills.

"It's a big opportunity for us para makita kung ano pa ang kulang namin individually and ano pa ang puwedeng gawin sa sarili namin," Canino said on Wednesday as De La Salle University was awarded its bronze medal finish in UAAP Season 86.

"Itong opportunity na 'to is to present kung sino talaga kami. We're given the opportunity to represent our country so we're very proud of it."

(It's a big opportunity for us to know what we can improve as individuals. This is an opportunity for us to present who we really are. We're given the opportunity to represent the country so we're proud of it.)

On Thursday, the national team started their training with the two players present.

Alas Pilipinas will open its campaign on Wednesday against Australia.
