Arellano eyes fifth straight title with NCAA Cheerleading set on June 19

The Arellano University Chiefsquad will aim for its fifth straight title as the competition returns on June 19.

Arellano first won the Cheerleading title in Season 90 and has bagged five titles overall in the competition.

Should they win again this year, the Chiefsquad will get its fifth straight title since Season 92.

In an interview on Game On: The Podcast, Arellano Chiefsquad head coach Lucky San Juan said it is a challenge to top their previous performance.

"Kumbaga sa amin kasi as a coach, lalo na pag defending champion ka, pipilitin mo talagang iangat 'yung gagawin mo ngayong season kumpara last season, na kahit hindi na kaya ng bata minsan. Pero siyempre, dahil nga sa nagbe-base tayo, mayroon tayong criteria or rules na sinusunod pagdating sa competition, kukuha lang tayo roon kung ano 'yung puwede natin gawin na kakayanin ng bata," San Juan said.

"Pero hangga't maaari, mas mai-improvise pa natin or mas mai-improve pa natin 'yung ginawa natin kumpara last season," he added.

(As a coach, even if you are a defending champion, you will really try to improve everything you did from last season, even if the dancers are already having a hard time. But of course, we have a base and criteria in competitions, we will just get there and check on what the kids can do. As much as possible, hopefully we can improvise or improve from last season.)

Tickets for the Cheerleading Competition may be bought at the venue's ticket booth.
