Joaquin Domagoso reveals his dad Isko Moreno's condition for him before entering showbiz

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno apparently had one condition before allowing his son, Joaquin Domagoso, to pursue a career in show business.

In an interview with the press for his upcoming role as Jonas in "My First Yaya," Joaquin revealed what his father thought about him following his footsteps in showbiz.

"Entering showbiz basta 'wag ko lang kalimutan 'yung studies ko and pag-aaral kasi sa papa ko 'yun lang 'yung pinaka-importanteng bagay," Joaquin said.

Joaquin said his father wanted him to eventually finish school because it was an opportunity Isko himself lacked when he was a kid.

"He was always working and he always wanted a better education and now that he has the ability to give that to me and parang gusto ko mag-showbiz, nagkaka-conflicting. But as long as I do both properly ok lang sa kanya," he said.

Joaquin is currently in second year college taking up business entrepreneurship.

Despite the difficulties that come with a career in the limelight, he said his family does not feel uncomfortable because they trust his home network, GMA-7.

"Hindi naman kasi sa GMA it's not really toxic there, it's really like family there, they treat you very well as artists," he said.

Joaquin also said that it was out of his own interest to join the showbiz industry.

"Talagang my dad didn't tell me to do it or wala naman nag-force sa 'kin. I just wanted to cause I know my attitude eh pabibo nga po talaga ako and I saw na this is a good outlet," he said.

Aside from acting, Joaquin said he wants to someday try his hand on directing.

"Pero I don't know pa cause I'm still a kid, I'm still in that age of my life where I'm deciding which path I should take," he said.

Joaquin said what he's sure about is building up his own business someday.

"Of course matic na 'yun, you can have a job pero your job and your business should be different," he said.

"Business is always gonna be there kaya I took entrepreneurship para makagawa ako ng small businesses and whatnot," he added.

Joaquin is one of Mayor Isko and his wife Diana Lynn Ditan's five children. Their four other children include Vincent Patrick, Frances Diane, Franco Dylan, and Drake Marcus.

Joaquin will be paired with Carmina Villaroel and Zoren Legaspi's daughter Cassy, who will play Nina in the GMA-7 teleserye "My First Yaya." —MGP, GMA News
