Over 40 families from Kamuning lose homes to TS Enteng’s floods
Over 40 families from Barangay Kamuning in Quezon City are currently staying at an evacuation center after losing their homes to the raging floods brought by Tropical Storm Enteng.
According to Manal Sugadol’s “Stand for Truth” report on Tuesday, 14 homes belonging to 43 families were ravaged by strong floods.
The displaced residents are currently living inside modular tents at an evacuation center.
Experts from the University of the Philippines also warned that residents may catch several illnesses from evacuation centers.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (NDRRMC), for its part, has released a memorandum on the proper evacuation of victims of calamities.
Both the responders and the evacuees should have, in the minimum level, ‘yung surgical mask to protect themselves. ‘Yung ating mga local government unit should have… a ward na ginagamit as a quarantine facility,” NDRRMC spokesman Mark Timbal said.
Meanwhile, local authorities vowed to attend to the needs of the displaced residents.
—Julia Mari Ornedo/LDF, GMA News
