Letran beats EAC to go 5-0 in NCAA women's volleyball

Colegio de San Juan de Letran defeated Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 25-16, to maintain its spotless record in the NCAA Season 100 women's volleyball tournament.

Judiel Nitura had 17 points from 15 attacks and two blocks to lead the Intramuros-based squad to a 5-0 start.

Rookie Vanessa Sarie, who was recently named as Collegiate Press Corps NCAA Player of the Week, was efficient on both ends of the floor with 16 points from 14 attacks, a block, and an ace, on top of 13 excellent receptions.

Verenicce Colendra, meanwhile, stepped up with 12 points as Gia Maquilang was sidelined to rest due to exams week. The latter, however, is expected to return on Saturday. 

Another rookie in Jing Alimen led the Lady Generals' fight with 15 points from 12 attacks, two aces, and a block, while Jamaica Villena had 13 points as EAC absorbed its third straight loss and slipped to 1-5.

Letran will face Arellano University on Saturday, while EAC will face De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde on March 27.
