Top players of NCAA Season 99 are among those who will be recognized in the Collegiate Press Corps Awards Night on Monday night in Pasig.
Most Valuable Players of the volleyball tournament Cloanne Mondoñedo (De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde) and Louie Ramirez (University of Perpetual Help System DALTA) were named as NCAA Volleyball Players of the Year by the group of writers covering UAAP and NCAA.
Basketball MVP Clint Escamis of Mapua University, meanwhile, is part of the CPC Mythical Team, along with Lyceum of the Philippines University product Enoch Valdez, and Jacob Cortez who will be recognized for his performance with San Beda University. Joining them in the Mythical Team are UAAP's Kevin Quiambao of De La Salle University and Malick Diouf of University of the Philippines.
Yuri Escueta of the San Beda Red Lions will also be recognized as NCAA Basketball Coach of the Year, while Jerry Yee of the Benilde Lady Blazers and Sammy Acaylar of the Perpetual ALTAs will be awarded the NCAA Volleyball Coaches of the Year.
Monday's Awards Night will also feature for the first time the Collegiate Basketball Women's Player of the Year in Kent Pastrana of the University of Santo Tomas, and UAAP Men's Volleyball Player of the Year in Joshua Retamar of National University.
UST women's basketball head coach Haydee Ong will also receive the distinction of being the UAAP Women's Basketball Coach of the Year for steering the Growling Tigresses to its first championship in 17 years.
The Women's Basketball Mythical Team will also be awarded for the first time, with Pastrana leading the pack, along with her teammate Tantoy Ferrer, MVP Kacey Dela Rosa (Ateneo), Josee Kaputu (FEU), and Favour Onoh (UP).
Topex Robinson, meanwhile, will be awarded the UAAP Men's Basketball Coach of the Year as the Green Archers ended a seven-year title drought.
