The crown remains in Las Piñas.
University of Perpetual Help System DALTA realized its four-peat dream after knocking out Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-14, 25-22, 29-27, in Game 2 of their NCAA Season 99 men's volleyball finals showdown on Sunday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
The ALTAs also completed a season sweep after going undefeated in the elimination round to clinch an automatic championship berth.
This also served as Perpetual's second four-peat feat in 14 years after winning four straight titles from Season 86 to Season 89. After that, the school also won the crown in Season 91, when they defeated EAC as well.
After two dominant victories in Sets 1 and 2, the ALTAs needed an extended Set 3 to put away the hard-fighting Generals, who were eyeing to end their nine-year title drought.
Back-to-back Kirth Rosos points sent the defending champions to a 21-18 lead in the crucial frame but EAC rallied with Jan Ruther Abor nailing two straight kills from the opposite to cut the deficit to one, 21-20.
Marvin Romero then scored on the left wing off the hands of JC Enarciso to give the Generals a 23-22 cushion before newly-crowned back-to-back MVP Louie Ramirez tied things up at 23-all.
Ervin Osabel would still give EAC the set point at 27-26, but Ramirez came up clutch after burying two consecutive kills. But it was the double block on Michael Medalla and Kobe Tabuga that put the roof on Osabel to complete the victory.
Jeff Marapoc top-scored with 18 points and 14 receptions en route to being named the Finals MVP after also pouring in 20 markers in Game 1. Ramirez chipped in 14 markers while Tabuga chimed in with 13 points and six digs.
While they are now the winningest team in the men's division, Perpetual head coach Sammy Acaylar said his top priority was just to give a future to his players.
"Hindi ko talaga inisip na mabigyan ako ng name and sabi nga nila the king of NCAA men's volleyball is Perpetual pero you know, hindi ko siya inisip," Acaylar said.
"Ang lagi kong iniisip ay improvement ng players ko."
(I'm not thinking of any titles or what they are saying that Perpetual is the king of NCAA men's volleyball, I am not thinking about those. What I always think is the improvement of my players.)
Abor paced EAC with 22 points while Osabel registered 14 markers, but their efforts were not enough as they faltered in straight sets.
