Cloanne Mondoñedo and Louie Ramirez will end their collegiate journey in a remarkable fashion.
This, after the graduating setter Mondoñedo of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and veteran outside spiker Ramirez of University of Perpetual Help System DALTA both claimed the MVP honors in the NCAA Season 99 women's and men's volleyball tournaments, respectively.
Mondoñedo became the first setter in recent memory to win the top award usually achieved by spikers, while Ramirez captured his second straight MVP recognition as both of their squads reached the finals.
Mondoñedo was also named the Best Setter, which was elusive to her in the past two seasons after steering the Lady Blazers to back-to-back titles in Season 97 and 98.
San Beda University's rising star and scoring machine in Angel Habacon and Mapua University's sophomore ace Roxie Dela Cruz were adjudged the 1st and 2nd Best Outside Spikers, respectively, as the former was also selected the Rookie of the Year.
Lyceum of the Philippines University rookie Hiromi Osada and Mapua's third-year leader Nicole claimed the 1st and 2nd Best Middle Blockers honors while Jaja Tulang of the Lady Pirates took home the Best Opposite Spiker award.
Lara Mae Silva of Colegio de San Juan de Letran was hailed the Best Libero while her teammate Gia Maquilang stood out among all freshmen as she was named the Freshman of the Year.
In the men's side, Ramirez also copped the 2nd Best Outside Spiker alongside Van Book of San Beda, who was recognized as both 1st Best Outside Spiker and Rookie of the Year.
Vince Himzon received his second straight Best Middle Blocker award followed by Perpetual's lefty tower KC Andrade. Emilio Aguinaldo College's Jan Ruther Abor, on the other hand, obtained the Best Opposite Hitter while his teammate Bhim Diones was handed the Best Libero plum.
Adrian Villados of Arellano University was hailed the Best Setter for the second straight season while Jun Edang of LPU was given the Freshman of the Year award.
