University of Perpetual Help System DALTA needed four sets to put Mapua University away, 25-20, 26-24, 20-25, 25-20 and return to the win column of the NCAA Season 99 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

The Lady ALTAs bounced back from a sweep loss against Colegio de San Juan de Letran to improve to 2-1 while Mapua dropped to their second straight loss to go 1-2.

After succumbing the third frame, the Las Piñas crew quickly got its act together in the fourth and zoomed to a much-needed 20-14 cushion. The Lady Cardinals countered with back-to-back points courtesy of an ace from Trixie Gojol to cut the deficit to four.

Charmaine Ocado then soared from the right wing to deliver the match point, 24-18, before Shaila Omipon put the finishing blow as Perpetual regained its winning ways after suffering a blowout just days ago.

Mary Rhose Dapol led the charge anew with 20 points anchored on 19 attacks and one ace while also grabbing 11 digs and 10 receptions while Omipon provided a huge lift with 16 markers.
