De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde's Mycah Go will be returning to action in the NCAA Season 99 women's volleyball tournament for the first time after suffering an ACL injury in 2023.
However, she does not want to pressure herself when it comes to expectations as she continues her rehabilitation and recovery process.
"Until now, 'di pa ako nag-stop mag-rehab and recovery kasi naghahabol pa rin ako ng kondisyon kasi di pa naman 'yan 100% same as before," Go told GMA News Online during the GMA Masterclass in Jose Rizal University last March 14.
(Until now, I am not stopping in rehab and recovery because I'm trying to catch up with conditioning since this is not as 100% as before.)
Go said she is now better but is undergoing conditioning as she was away from competition for almost a year. The upcoming volleyball tournament set to open on Sunday will be her first taste of competitive action since her injury.
"Kahit papaano, tina-try ko naman na hindi ilayo ang sarili ko sa volleyball kasi once bumalik ako, mahihirapan ako kapag i-stop ko talaga," said Go, who was present in the Lady Blazers' bench back in Season 98 as a member of the coaching staff.
(Somehow, I am trying to not to distance myself that much from volleyball since I will find it harder if I really stop.)
But despite bagging the Most Valuable Player award in Season 97, Go was candid in saying not to expect much from her performance this season.
"Alam naman nila 'yun na wala silang maasahan sakin kasi alam nila sitwasyon ko pa," she added.
(They know that they would not expect much from me because they know my situation.)
Along with her return is Benilde's bid for its third straight title, which she admitted is going to be a tall order.
"Gusto namin manalo, pero ayaw namin mag-expect na champion kami hindi porke't two-time champion kami. Pero kailangan pa rin namin ayusin, paghirapan. Ayaw namin mag-expect, kailangan namin pagtrabahahuhan."
(We want to win, but we do not want to expect that since we're two-time champions, we will win again. We still need to improve and work hard on it. We don't want to expect, but we need to work on it.)
Benilde will take on Emilio Aguinaldo College on the opening day of the NCAA Season 99 volleyball tournament on Sunday.
