De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and University of Perpetual Help System DALTA will both look to finish off their respective foes when they play in Game Two of the NCAA Season 98 volleyball finals on Friday.
Benilde and Perpetual, both unblemished in women's and men's division, respectively, will hope to close out Lyceum of the Philippines University and San Beda University in bid to claim their titles with a season sweep.
Two-peat seeking Benilde and Lyceum will go at it at 2 p.m. while two-time defending champion Perpetual clash once more with San Beda in the opening salvo at 12 p.m. with both games to be held at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.
The Lady Blazers were nothing short of dominant in Game 1 with Gayle Pascual and Jade Gentapa leading the way just as they always do in their previous outings. The third year opposite spiker dropped 15 points while Gentapa scattered nine in their 25-17, 25-19, 25-19 victory that lasted for just one hour and 18 minutes.
But even if they hold the series advantage, the Taft crew won't take the Lady Pirates lightly, especially after what happened during their elimination round meeting where Lyceum dragged them to a five-setter.
"One game at a time kami. Happy kami we got it and lamang sa blocks so good, somehow napagusapan 'yan and 'yung pacing namin sa floor defense we got it right so happy kami," said Benilde head coach Jerry Yee.
"Then hopefully, sa second game ma-implement namin and then makapag-adjust kami kung may adjustments man."
Meanwhile, Perpetual, which is gunning for a third straight title run, will also eye for the jugular against the Red Spikers in bid to stretch their winning streak to 33 dating back to Season 93.
Louie Ramirez, who churned out 17 points in the series opener, stressed there is no pressure come Game Two, noting the fact they will just continue with what they have been doing all season long.
"Wala naman pong pressure. Kumbaga, nilalaro ko lang kung ano 'yung nasa ensayo namin, kung ano 'yung kaya kong gawin, at kung ano 'yung kayang gawin ng team ko," Ramirez said. — LA, GMA Integrated News
