Tina Marasigan came to life in the third set to tow San Sebastian College-Recoletos to a 25-22, 25-18, 25-17 sweep of Emilio Aguinaldo College in the NCAA Season 98 women’s volleyball tournament on Tuesday.
San Sebastian clinched back-to-back wins to improve to 2-6 while EAC dropped to 1-6 as both teams are already eliminated from playoff contention.
Sophomore Marasigan got things going for the Lady Stags in the crucial third frame, nailing three consecutive attacks to put San Sebastian to an 8-7 lead.
Another cross court kill from KJ Dionisio sent the Lady Stags to a 16-10 cushion before the Lady Generals answered with a 3-0 run.
But Kath Santos soared for a hammer before middle blocker Amaka Tan drilled three straight attacks to finish off EAC, 25-17.
Marasigan finished with 20 points built on 19 attacks and one block while Dionisio and Tan chipped in 11 markers apiece.
Cathrine Almazan and Krizzia Reyes were the lone bright spots for EAC, churning out 13 and 12 points each in the loss.
This is San Sebastian’s second victory of the season after a Final Four appearance in the previous edition. They will face San Beda University next on Sunday while EAC takes on JRU on Friday.
