After dominating the first two sets, Lyceum of the Philippines University survived a late scare from San Beda University in the third set to complete a sweep, 25-20, 25-16, 28-26, on Sunday in the NCAA Season 98 women's volleyball tournament.

Jaja Tulang tallied 14 points to lead the Lady Pirates, but Joan Doguna and Johna Dolorito proved to be two-way players as Doguna listed 13 points (12 attacks, 1 ace) and 11 excellent digs, while Johna Dolorito also had 13 points (11 points, 2 aces) on top of 10 excellent digs.

Marianne Tayag was the only double-digit scorer for the Mendiola-based squad with 10 points.

With the win, LPU improved to 5-2 while San Beda went down to 1-6.

LPU hopes to make a run until the elimination round wraps up as they take on Colegio de San Juan de Letran on Tuesday and University of Perpetual Help System DALTA on Friday.

San Beda, meanwhile, will try to collect as many wins as possible as it takes on Mapua University on Wednesday and San Sebastian College-Recoletos on Saturday.
