Colegio de San Juan de Letran recovered from a previous five-set loss as it turned back Emilio Aguinaldo College, 19-25, 25-22, 25-12, 25-12, in the NCAA Season 98 women's volleyball tournament on Tuesday.
Letran, fresh off a defeat at the hands of Mapua University last Friday, improved to 2-1 while host EAC remained winless with a 0-3 card.
The Lady Knights buckled down after a first set letdown with Lea Tapang's attack snapping the Lady Generals' 5-0 run in the second set as Letran tied things up at 22-all.
Judiel Nitura then knocked down back-to-back kills highlighted by a combination play to give Letran the set point, 24-22, before a miscommunication on the EAC side leveled the game at one set apiece.
Letran unleashed eight service aces in the third set while forcing the Lady Generals to commit seven errors to race to a commanding 2-1 set lead with a dominant 25-12 third set victory.
Letran capped off the easy victory with a 5-0 closing run with Jade Isar delivering the match point through an ace, 24-12, before Nitura soared high from the opposite side and broke the EAC wall to clinch the win.
Nitura paced Letran with season-high 16 points while Tapang provided the lift on both ends of the court, finishing with 11 markers alongside 15 digs and 13 excellent receptions. Isar tallied 11 points as well while Angelique Ledesma and veteran Cha Cuñada chipped in nine each.
Jennifer Omapas, Kristina Manlapaz, and Cath Almazan were in double figures for EAC, pouring in 14, 12, and 11 points respectively but EAC could not get the job done to absorb their third loss in a row.
Letran marches to another game on Friday against San Sebastian College-Recoletos while EAC will face San Beda University later in the day.
