Matthew Miguel led JRU with 14 points while Kenneth Daynata and June Laxina added 11 and 10 points each.
Kier Tibayan and Jeric Porto had nine points apiece in LPU's third straight loss since the season opened.
Later in the evening, Mapua bounced back at the expense of San Sebastian College-Recoletos with a straight sets victory, 25-22, 25-18, 25-13.
Barbie San Andres led the Cardinals with 19 points off 16 attacks and three aces, while Peter Sanado and Alvin Macadandang added 10 points each to return to the win column after losing to Colegio de San Juan de Letran in a five-setter last Friday.
Kyle Villamor tallied 16 points for the Stags' second loss in three games.
JRU and Mapua will meet each other on Wednesday while LPU will go against Arellano on the same day. San Sebastian, on the other hand, will face Letran on Thursday.
