Lyceum of the Philippines University took down Jose Rizal University, 22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-17, on Sunday in the NCAA Season 98 women's volleyball tournament at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.
After losing the first set, the Lady Pirates mounted a comeback to take their third straight win in the tournament.
LPU led by nine, 22-13, in the fourth set before a Joan Doguna attack eventually sealed the deal for the Lady Pirates' win.
Doguna led the Intramuros-based squad in scoring with 19 points, while Jaja Tulang and Johna Dolorito chipped in 17 and 14 points, respectively. Venice Puzon was also crucial in the win with 15 excellent sets on top of her attack and block.
Mary May Ruiz was the only double digit scorer for JRU with 12 points.
The Lady Pirates (3-0) will be back in action against Arellano University, while JRU (0-3) will play Mapua University on Wednesday.
