Perpetual men's and women's teams reach top of standings on Day 1 of NCAA beach volleyball

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA's men's and women's teams sat atop the standings as Day 1 of the NCAA Season 98 beach volleyball tournament closed on Tuesday.

 

 

On the women's side, Perpetual improved to 3-0 after their wins against De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (21-12, 21-14), Colegio de San Juan de Letran (21-15, 21-16), and Jose Rizal University (21-8, 21-12).

The ALTAs also won all three games in the men's division against Arellano University (16-21, 21-13, 15-10), Letran (21-17, 26-24), and JRU (21-11, 21-17).

Emilio Aguinaldo College also remained perfect in both women's and men's division with the two teams getting 2-0 at the end of the first day's festivities. 

The Lady Generals swept JRU (21-14, 21-15) and Arellano (21-10, 21-12), while the men's team, who are the defending champs, defeated JRU (21-16, 17-21, 16-14) and Lyceum of the Philippines University (21-14, 21-13).

In the rest of the afternoon games of the women's division, JRU defeated Mapua in three sets, 21-13, 14-21, 16-14, while Benilde swept San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 21-16, 21-15. Letran, meanwhile, defeated rival San Beda, 21-18, 21-17).

The morning session of the men's side finished with a three-set win of Arellano over San Beda, 16-21, 21-18, 15-12.

Mapua swept JRU, 21-19, 24-22, while Benilde beat San Sebastian, 21-18, 30-28. The men's side had a different result for the rivals as San Beda swept Letran, 21-14, 21-14.

Following Perpetual (3-0) and EAC (2-0) in the standings of the women's division are Benilde and Letran with identical 2-1 records, Mapua, San Sebastian, and San Beda with a win and a loss each, Lyceum and Arellano with two losses, and JRU with three losses.

Perpetual topped the men's standings with a 3-0 record, while both EAC and Benilde have two wins each. San Sebastian, Arellano, and Mapua all have 1-1 cards, while Letran and San Beda both have 1-2, followed by Lyceum (0-2), and JRU (0-3).

Day 2 of the tournament will resume on Wednesday.
