College of Saint Benilde knew all too well that San Sebastian College-Recoletos had the ability to come back from any deficit, but head coach Jerry Yee said it was their right mindset that paved the way for a sweep win on Friday.
San Sebastian roared back from 0-2 set deficits in its past two games, escaping both Jose Rizal University and University of Perpetual Help System DALTA to extend its winning streak to three.
But the Lady Stags were left looking for answers in today's match, with the Lady Blazers closing out strong in a 25-11, 25-22, 25-14 conquest.
"Mindsetting [lang], kung naniniwala sila sa narrative na 'yon [na babawi ang San Sebastian], baka mangyari," said Yee after the game.
"Eh kung meron ka namang sinet na tone para sa sarili mo, you won't let that happen so ayun lang naman. Dapat aayusin mo 'yung mindset mo."
The Lady Blazers didn't give their opponents that same chance in this one, allowing San Sebastian just 24 attacks to CSB's 48, which dropped the Lady Stags down to 4-2 after the loss.
"So kasi usually I let them play para mas marami silang natutunan, mas marami silang nae-experience so sa mga ganong situation, may mga ganong situation na two sets down sila and they win from behind so this game, probably ang difference from previous [games] tumayo ako at kinausap 'yung team, kalmahin 'yung team, and then ipaliwanag sa kanila na if they will let that thing happen, it will happen," Yee added.
"So you have to control them, you have to change their mindsets. Malaking factor 'yun eh, i-focus 'yung sarili."
