Games today:
12 pm - EAC vs LPU
2:30 pm - Perpetual vs JRU
Two slumping teams in Jose Rizal University and University of Perpetual Help System DALTA will look to break out of their respective skids while Lyceum of the Philippines University remains wary against still winless Emilio Aguinaldo College when they clash on Wednesday in the NCAA Season 97 women's volleyball tournament.
The Lady Pirates, coming off a hard-fought win just over the weekend, will go up against the gritty Lady Generals in the opening salvo at 12 p.m..
At 2:30 p.m., the Lady Bombers, who have lost three of their last assignments, and the Lady Altas, who stumbled in their last two outings, will clash in hopes to return to the win column.
Although the odds favor them in terms of team standings, Lyceum head coach Cromwell Garcia said they will not rest on their laurels against EAC, which showed some signs of a fight in its recent outings, like against San Beda University last Sunday.
Lyceum will use the momentum it gained following a 25-14, 25-22, 28-30, 25-12 victory against Colegio de San Juan de Letran as it eyes to bag its fourth win in six games with rookies Jaja Tulang, Johna Dolorito, and Jewel Maligmat leading the way.
"Actually, 'yung nangyari sa Letran kanina [ay] good experience sa kanila," Garcia said.
"Sabi ko nga, marunong mag-volleyball 'yan, 'di mo pwedeng sabihing panalo ka na sa two sets lang. You need to prepare. [Against EAC], same thing lang. Kung paano kami nag-prepare sa mga past games, gano'n pa rin 'yung preparation namin sa EAC."
Meanwhile, both JRU and Perpetual are looking to end their dry spell at the expense of the other.
JRU had lost to Mapua University, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, and Arellano University after opening its campaign with rousing twin victories over Letran and EAC to drop to 2-3.
Carrying identical 2-3 cards, though, same will be the business for Perpetual who absorbed back-to-back defeats at the hands of Mapua and San Sebastian.
