CSB coach says Lady Blazers didn't sleep on dark-horse Mapua en route to sweep win

Just like any other game, College of Saint Benilde came prepared for its match against Mapua University on Tuesday.

According to head coach Jerry Yee, they did their homework in gearing up for the Lady Cardinals, who have been touted as the dark-horse in the ongoing NCAA Season 97 women's volleyball tournament.

Mapua opened its campaign with a loss to three-time defending champion Arellano University but they were quick to recover, winning their next three assignments to remain in the upper half of the standings.

Mapua edged some tough teams like San Sebastian, Jose Rizal University, and University of Perpetual Help System DALTA en route to an impressive 3-1 card.

But the Lady Blazers halted the Lady Cardinals' streak, winning in straight sets, 25-17, 25-11, 25-12, to improve to a clean 5-0 win-loss card.

"We prepared for them. So, good [na nanalo kami]," said Yee in the post-game interview.

But Yee insisted the job isn't done yet as CSB eyes to finish at the top of the competition, especially following the cancellation of the previous season where they fashioned a 7-0 slate.

"Kumbaga, execute lang tayo nang execute. 'Di pa tapos eh. Kalahati pa lang."
