Games today:
12 pm - Mapua (1-1) vs JRU (2-0)
2 pm - CSB (2-0) vs Letran (0-2)

De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and Jose Rizal University will look to preserve their unbeaten runs when they tackle separate foes on Sunday in the NCAA Season 97 women's volleyball tournament.

The Lady Blazers will try to extend their winning streak to three against Colegio de San Juan de Letran, which remains winless in two games, in their 2:30 p.m. collision.

Meanwhile, the Lady Bombers are also out to protect their spotless slate when they tackle Mapua University in the opening salvo at 12 p.m. at the Paco Arena in Manila.

CSB and JRU are the two hottest teams in the league right now.

The wards of CSB head coach Jerry Yee first flaunted its prowess on San Beda University in the opening day before sweeping Lyceum of the Philippines University to go 2-0.

And against Letran, which failed to pick up wins in its earlier meetings against JRU and University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, CSB will continue to bank on the sophomore duo of Gayle Pascual and skipper Mycah Go.

But Yee stressed their preparation for the Lady Knights will be the same with how they prepared in their previous outings.

"Same way as always. Lahat 'yan, wala kaming pinipiling team. So meron tayong routine na ginagawa, meron tayong preparation, [and] merong scouting," said Yee.

Meanwhile, the Mia Tioseco-mentored JRU is looking to continue their impressive run in the season with the troika of team captain Dolly Verzosa, Renesa Melgar, and middle blocker Sydney Niegos piloting their offense.

Across Mapua, Tioseco said they have to work doubly hard as the Lady Cardinals are no joke after it pulled off an upset over San Sebastian College-Recoletos just last Wednesday.

"Nag-improve din ang Mapua. Actually lahat ng teams nag-improve [in terms] movement, 'yung height. Kami nga ata 'yung naiwan sa height kasi ang tatangkad talaga ng players ng iba," said Tioseco.

"So kailangan namin maging double ready for next game."
