Two years ago, just before the pandemic halted almost everything, Arellano University was just a few wins away from completing a rare four-peat gem in the NCAA Season 95 women's volleyball tournament.
Prior to league cancellation in March 2020, the Lady Chiefs were at second spot with a 7-1 record behind leader College of Saint Benilde. The two schools were supposed to face each other in the final day of the elimination round but COVID-19 struck.
Prior to that season, Arellano sat on the NCAA throne for three consecutive years.
Behind the genius that is head coach Obet Javier, the Lady Chiefs ruled Seasons 90, 92, 93, and 94, joining San Sebastian College-Recoletos and University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in the upper echelon of NCAA teams.
This year, though, Arellano will be without its mainstays in top spikers Regine Arocha and Necole Ebuen as well as middle blocker Mikaela Juanich. They will be leaning on team captain Carla Donato and open spiker Princess Bello.
Completing Arellano's lineup are Trina Abay, Kristine Adante, Dodee Batindaan, Cherry Mae Cuenca, Alliah Daisog, Pauline De Guzman, Charmina Diño, Janice Mauntag, Robbie Matawaran, Marianne Padillon, Lorraine Pecaña, Donnalyn Paralejas, Alyana San Gregorio, and Nicole Sasuman.
