San Beda rules NCAA Season 100 chess, taekwondo, swimming events; LPU tops NCAA Streetdance

In NCAA Season 100, San Beda University has plenty to celebrate after ruling the chess, taekwondo, and swimming events.

The Mendiola-based squad was the seniors division champion of the chess tournament held last November at Ayala Malls Manila Bay, with Leonel Escote being named as the Most Valuable Player.

Lyceum of the Philippines University, meanwhile, finished second while Jose Rizal University finished third.

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA's Wesley Jovan Magbanua was named Freshman and Rookie of the Year.

In the taekwondo tournament held at EAC Gym, the Red Jins completed a back-to-back sweep of NCAA Seasons 99 and 100 as they ruled the men's, women's, and boys division.

Arellano University and Emilio Aguinaldo College finished second and third respectively in the men's division, while De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and EAC completed the top three of the women's division. EAC and Arellano placed second and third in the boys division.

San Beda's Leiron Capitle, Rica Antonares, and Taj Satairapan were named as Most Valuable Players of the men's, women's, and boys division, respectively.

In swimming, the Mendiola crew dominated once again the three divisions of the said tournament held last December 10 to 13 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

The Red Sea Lions extended their two-decade winning streak in the men's division, capturing their 21st title and 26th overall in the said event.

In the women's division, San Beda won its 11th straight title, while it also reclaimed the boys division title.
Jennuel Booh de Leon (men's), Ihiazel Fei Dolliente (women's), and Albert Jose Amaro II (boys) were the Most Valuable Players of their respective divisions.

Meanwhile, In the inaugural streetdance tournament held last December 12 at Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan, LPU took home the title. Benilde and JRU made the podium of the seniors division.

Perpetual topped the juniors division, while LPU and JRU finished second and third, respectively.
