JRU officially turns over NCAA hosting to LPU for historic Season 100 | NCAA Philippines

Jose Rizal University has officially turned the hosting of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) over to Lyceum of the Philippines University, which will oversee the league's historic Season 100 months from now.

Outgoing management committee chairman Paul Supan of JRU led the ceremony on Wednesday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre as he officially gave LPU athletic director Hercules Callanta the hosting duties for the centennial offering.

The 100th season will mark the league's fifth season since the pandemic.

The NCAA, the country's oldest league, staged Season 96 at the height of the COVID-19 in 2021 with online games in chess and taekwondo as Colegio de San Juan de Letran served as host.

The following year, the league was able to mount two basketball seasons in Seasons 97 and 98 with the Knights emerging as champions in both editions. Both seasons also saw De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde capturing back-to-back crowns in the women's volleyball event, while University of Perpetual Help System DALTA continued its dominance in the men's division last year.

The league was in full swing in the recent Season 99, setting up the likes of men's football with San Beda University retaining the title, as well as other traditional sports in lawn tennis, table tennis, and karate.
