NCAA beach volleyball is back and players were excited as the Season 99 tournament opened on Wednesday in Subic.
Around 100 players are competing in the tournament as the men's and women's division returned along with the comeback of the juniors division.
"Medyo exciting kasi first time din namin makalaro ng beach volley," Jose Rizal University's Je Joel Lacio said in Jonathan Andal's '24 Oras' report on Thursday.
(It's exciting because it's the first time for us to play beach volleyball.)
"Thank you po kasi nabigyan po kami ng opportunity na makapaglaro po dito. Maraming salamat po dahil ito po 'yung pangarap namin. Sana magtuloy-tuloy po ang pangarap namin," Vergel Balajadia of Colegio de San Juan de Letran said.
(Thank you for the opportunity give to us to play here. Thank you because this is our dream. Hopefully this will continue.)
During the press conference, NCAA Management Committee chair Paul Supan said "Its a sign of returning back to normal... of bigger and better NCAA!"
Atty. Ruel Kabigting, SBMA Deputy Administrator for Administration, said holding the tournament in Subic will help them in terms of tourism.
"Nakatulong po ang NCAA sa amin kaya may utang na loob din kami sa inyo for choosing Subic Bay as the venue," he said.
(NCAA helped us so we also owe a lot to the league for choosing Subic Bay as the venue.)
The tournament will run until January 28 and is open to the public for free.
