JRU reigns supreme anew in track and field's return to NCAA

After almost three years, track and field events returned in the NCAA and Jose Rizal University reigned supreme anew in Season 98.

The athletics competition was held from April 19 to 20 at the PhilSports Complex in Pasig.

Dhem AJ Monton (800 meters; 1500 meters) and Frederick Ramirez (200 meters) were among the individual gold medalists for JRU, while the Mandaluyong-based squad composed of Ramirez, Grandelle Orillano, Mark Allen Aboc, and Gabriel Dulay dominated the 4x400 meter relay for the gold medal.

JRU's haul was also filled with medals from Ramirez (silver, 800 meters), Orillano (silver, 400 m hurdles), Aboc (bronze, 400 m hurdles), Rico Jay Patanao (silver, 1500 meters), Dominc Woodard (bronze, discus throw), Brixter Luquing (silver, javelin throw), and Lyndon Millanes (bronze, triple jump).

 

 

JRU topped the tournaments with 685 points, while Mapua University placed second with 661.5 points. University of Perpetual Help System DALTA finished third overall with 389 points.

JRU was also the champions of the track and field tournament back in Season 94.
