Three past NCAA Most Valuable Players were in the limelight during the second episode of ‘Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96’ on Monday.
Spikers John Vic de Guzman from the College of St. Benilde and Grethcel Soltones of San Sebastian College as well as basketball standout Prince Eze of the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA dropped by the studio to talk about their experiences as student-athletes.
De Guzman shared it was hard and challenging to find the balance between his career as an athlete and as an actor while Eze, the Season 94 MVP, said that he values his education more than anything else--an attitude he acquired from his mother.
But aside from sharing their heartfelt stories, the three athletes also showed their off-court skills.
In a talent showdown, de Guzman was hailed as the MVP (as in Most Valuable Performer) after singing his version of ‘Passenger Seat’ against Eze’s rendition of OPM hit ‘Torete’. Soltones, a three-time MVP, displayed her dance moves.
GMA actress and comedian Boobay, meanwhile, served as the judge.
The second episode also touched on the unique story of San Beda University twin swimmers Jasper and Joshua Casino, who, at an early age, were taught how to swim due to a tragic accident that their older sister had, which caused her untimely death.
Head coach Christian Maghirang from the Letran taekwondo team was also part of the guest lineup and taught hosts Martin Javier and Sophia Senoron some basic self-defense skills.
Watch 'Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96' every weekday (2:45 p.m.) Saturdays (4:30 p.m), and Sundays (5:05 p.m.) on GTV!
