NCAA: EAC, Mapua to forfeit games due to banned players from 'basketbrawl' | NCAA Philippines

Mapua Institute of Technology and Emilio Aguinaldo College are set to forfeit their next NCAA basketball games due to their respective lineups depleted by suspensions.

Following the bench-clearing brawl that broke out during their match on Monday, suspensions were handed out to 17 players from both teams.

"They are facing possible forfeiture if they cannot come up with five players to start the game," said Paul Supan , NCAA Management Committee chairman

EAC will forfeit its game against University of Perpetual Help scheduled on Friday. Jerald Serrano, Christ Mejos, Ai Indin, and Jozhua General were the only Generals spared from suspensions and thus allowed to play matches.

Mapua is also set to forfeit its game against Colegio de San Juan de Letran on Sept. 29 with only CJ Isit, Joseph Eriobu, Jessie Saitanan, and Jeson Cantos left to play for the Cardinals.

The last time a game was forfeited in the NCAA was in 2008, when College of St. Benilde won over San Beda after Nigerian San Ekwe wore a wrong set of uniform. — JST, GMA News
