LPU gets first win in NCAA men's volleyball at SSC-R's expense; Arellano sweeps JRU

The Lyceum of the Philippines University got its breakthrough win in the NCAA Season 100 men's volleyball at the expense of San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 30-32, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 16-14, on Friday at the Emilio Aguinaldo Sports and Cultural Center in Manila.

John Bert Cielo and Jun Edang led the Pirates with 22 and 21 points, respectively, while Mark Kenneth Lanorio added 16 points as the Intramuros-based squad improved to 1-6.

The win spoiled Kyle Villamor's 29-point outing for the Golden Stags who absorbed their third straight loss and moved down to 1-6.

Meanwhile, Arellano University made quick work of Jose Rizal University, 25-16, 25-13, 25-13.

AC Guinto had 14 points, while Anfernee Curamen had 10 points, with Adi Villados making 16 excellent sets, along with two points.

Paolo Barrientos had eight points to lead the Heavy Bombers.

Arellano improved to 4-3, while JRU remained winless in seven games.
