San Beda University squeaked past University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, 83-80, on Sunday in the NCAA Season 100 Juniors Basketball tournament at the Emilio Aguinaldo College Gym.

The Red Cubs survived a late comeback attempt from the Junior Altas, but held on to take their third straight win in the season.

Leading 81-76 with less than three minutes left after an MJ Vailoces layup, JD Pagulayan drilled a triple at the 1:32 markk to cut its deficit. Francis Dollente, however, scored a basket to give San Beda a comfortable lead.

A Vailoces foul on Pagulayan with around 33 seconds left put the latter on the line where he made a split. San Beda's Joaquin Wagan turned the ball over leading to attempts from the Junior Altas' Dan Rosales and Icee Callangan who both tried from beyond the arc. However, both attempts fell short as San Beda survived the late rally.

Vailoces posted 24 points to lead the Red Cubs, while Dollente added 18 points.

Lebron Jhames Daep, meanwhile, had 16 points, while Jan Roluna had 11 points.

Prior to that, Jose Rizal University eked out a 68-67 win against Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

The Light Bombers led 68-65 after a jumper from Lee Marin with 44 ticks remaining, but freebies from Jhuniel Dela Rama at the 0:22 mark gave the Squires a chance to take the game. Daryl Valdeavilla, however, missed his late 3-point attempt as the Squires were dealt their second straight loss.

Marin had 16 points, while James Almario and CJ Satparam added 15 and 10 points, respectively, for JRU who improved to 2-1.

Dela Rama, meanwhile, had 15 points and seven rebounds, while Arwin Alforque had nine points and eight rebounds to lead the Squires who slipped to 1-2.

Arellano University, meanwhile, dominated San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 95-74.

Johnray Ladica had 23 points, while Ray Yusi and Aaron Manansala had 18 and 14 points, respectively, as the Braves went up to 2-1.

Sanlea Peñaverde had 24 points to lead the Staglets who remained winless in three games.
