Mapua University eyes the no. 1 spot in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament as they take on Arellano University at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay.
The Cardinals currently lead in the standings (14-3) after De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde's loss to Lyceum of the Philippines University on Friday which put the latter at 14-4.
A win will solidify their hold of the top spot and put the Blazers at second.
Mapua also aims to complete its second round sweep as it currently has an eight-game win streak. Arellano (7-10), meanwhile, aims to end its campaign strong after taking down Colegio de San Juan de Letran last Wednesday.
In the first round, Mapua defeated Arellano, 77-71.
If Mapua loses, Benilde will get the no. 1 spot due to higher quotient advantage.
San Beda University (10-7) and San Sebastian College-Recoletos, on the other hand, both eye to end the elimination round on a high note as they face off at 2:30 p.m.
Both squads are coming off losses, with the Red Lions falling to the Blazers, 70-62, and the Golden Stags losing to the Cardinals, 95-79.
San Beda, however, is already assured of the no. 3 spot in the Final Four, whatever the result of its game against San Sebastian may be.
The Red Lions defeated the Golden Stags, 85-75, in the first round.
