Streaking Benilde, Arellano lock horns with EAC, San Sebastian in return from break | NCAA Philippines

Red-hot De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and Arellano University look to preserve their winning ways when they tackle separate foes on Sunday in NCAA Season 100.

League-leading Blazers shoot for a fifth straight win in their 12 p.m. clash against Emilio Aguinaldo College while the surging Chiefs face off with luckless San Sebastian College-Recoletos at 2:30 p.m. at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

Benilde is coming off a one-week, but best believe the wards of head coach Charles Tiu is still coming out with guns blazing especially against a dangerous EAC side.

The Blazers have dominated their last four matches, capped by a dominant 80-65 win against Jose Rizal University last Sunday where rookie Ian Torres stood tall with a team-high 16 points while big man Allen Liwag churned out a double-double 12 markers and 11 rebounds.

Before that, Benilde has also eked out statement wins over San Sebastian and Arellano as well as JRU to end its first round run.

The Generals, meanwhile, are hoping to replicate their previous victory over San Sebastian last Saturday where the troika of King Gurtiza, Wilmar Oftana, and Harvey Pagsanjan joined forces to steer EAC to its sixth win in 12 games.

A win by the Generals will put them at solo fourth after both Colegio de San Juan de Letran and Lyceum of the Philippines University lost today to JRU and Perpetual, respectively.

In the second game, Arellano will be eyeing to make it a third win in a row after securing their first back-to-back wins last time against LPU and Perpetual.

The Chiefs have a lot of heroes over that stretch with Lorenz Capuling pouring in a career-high 30 points in their dramatic 91-86 escape of LPU before Maverick Vinoya took the scoring cudgels against the ALTAs with 20 markers, four boards, and two assists.
