NCAA Season 100

Penny Estacio repays San Beda's trust with clutch performance | NCAA Philippines

Penny Estacio is back home in San Beda University and he is repaying the Red Lions' trust with his recent clutch performances.

Last Tuesday, Estacio sank what could have been the game-winner for San Beda University if Greg Cunanan's triple did not connect for Lyceum of the Philippines University.

On Friday, he made another one to lift the Red Lions past University of Perpetual Help System DALTA.

"I'm just taking advantage nung trust na binibigay sa akin ng coaches. I know how I play, so kumpiyansa lang ako sa sarili ko. Lahat ng hard work ko nung preseason, lumalabas na," Estacio told GMA News Online after their win against the ALTAs.

"I just want to give credit to my teammates. Nung times na I was having a hard time, nandiyan sila para sa akin."

Estacio is playing his first year in the NCAA after playing for one season in De La Salle University.

But for a time, Estacio also donned the red and white back in high school.

"Actually, it was easy for me kasi San Beda felt like home. Doon ako nanggaling nung high school. 'Yung teammates ko noong high school, mga nakakalaban ko before, nasa San Beda rin. Familiar territory na," Estacio said about his transition to San Beda.

"I'm just adjusting to the system. I'm just thankful to the coaches na naging patient sila sa akin and ayun, thankful ako na nabibigay ko sa kanila 'yung tiwala."

While he admitted that he struggled early in the season in terms of adjusting to the NCAA style of play, Estacio said he just worked on what was needed and trusted God's plan.

"I'm very thankful sa San Beda, binigyan ulit ako ng opportunity to showcase my talents. Nung tinanggap nila ako, I just worked hard, trust in the Lord's plan, and thankful lang talaga ako sa opportunity na binibigay nila sa akin," he said.

"Sabi ko nung lilipat ako sa NCAA school, sabi ko San Beda lang. I asked the Lord for signs. San Beda lang talaga maayos na usapan. Lord's plan lang talaga."
