NCAA Season 100

San Beda eyes to extend streak in second round opener vs Arellano | NCAA Philippines

San Beda University is eyeing to extend its winning streak to four as it takes on Arellano University on Saturday in NCAA Season 100.

The Red Lions (6-3) take on the Chiefs (3-6) at 11:00 a.m. at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Back in the first round, Arellano defeated San Beda, 72-70. However, the Red Lions returned to their winning ways after the loss to the Chiefs as they won three consecutive games.

With momentum on their side at the end of the first round, San Beda head coach Yuri Escueta said they still have to rely on their defense in the coming games.

"What saved us during the first round was our defense, and we have to continue to play with the same intensity coming to the next round,” Escueta said after their overtime win against Mapua University.

The Chiefs, meanwhile, just trust the process as they continue to find their form.

"Ang pinakaimportante kasi 'yung prosesong dinadaanan ng team. Suwerte kami doon kasi nadaanan na namin. Maybe sa second round, baka ibang-iba na to kasi baka sabay-sabay na 'to pumutok," Arellano head coach Chico Manabat previously said.

Mapua University (6-3) and Jose Rizal University (3-6), on the other hand, hope to return to the win column as they open their second round campaigns.

The Cardinals fell to San Beda as they capped the first round, while the Heavy Bombers were beaten by league-leading De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.

The two will go against each other at 2:30 p.m.
