Lyceum of the Philippines University avenged its first round loss against Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 91-68, in NCAA Season 100 on Friday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
LPU improved to 5-5, while Letran slipped to 6-4.
After leading 70-61 at the end of the third period, the Pirates pounded on the Knights in the final frame, 21-7, to seal the victory.
"Honestly, wala naman kaming tinitingnan na ganon (bawi) kasi we know naman na every team makakalaban namin ulit. Kailangan lang namin paghandaan and pag-aralan bakit ba kami natalo. I'm very blessed na nakabalik din ang injured players ko," LPU head coach Gilbert Malabanan said.
Renz Villegas has 23 points, while John Barba registered a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds.
In his return from injury, JM Bravo almost had a double-double outing with 10 points and eight boards, alongside an assist. Michael Versoza, who also played in his first game this season, had seven points.
Deo Cuajao led the Knights with 16 points, while Jimboy Estrada and Pao Javillonar had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
"Walang effort, walang energy, nagkanya-kanya," lamented Letran head coach Allen Ricardo.
The Pirates' win came after Letran defeated LPU, 78-66, to end its first round run.
The Pirates will return to action on Tuesday against San Beda University, while the Knights will play the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA on Sunday.
